Introducing the all new P2P Periscope Teleprompter that allows you to conduct face-to-face interviews using the same technology that submarines use to see above the waterline from inside the ship.
By positioning two mirrors, one beamsplitter, and one solid, at a 45° angle and placing them parallel to each other on a diagonal horizontal plane, you have accomplished a pretty cool thing.
What happens is that the camera can look through the beamsplitter mirror at the talent and the talent can see the object that is reflected by the solid mirror and the person looking at the solid mirror can see what is reflected off of the beamsplitter mirror.
This type of teleprompter allows two people to talk to each other as if they were having a face-to-face conversation while the talent is looking directly into the camera lens and the interviewer can be behind the camera either operating the camera or on the opposite side of the camera separate from the operator.
This type of interviewing style has been around for a while and Telmax Teleprompters started to develop this product in 2009 while working with the banking industry. After a short run with the idea, we shelved it until recently.
What we came up with is a super cool design that is super light, but extremely durable as well as optimal for viewing the talent and interviewer.
This Periscope teleprompter, which we call the P2P PROMPTER™ has a wide 11" X 9" beamsplitter mirror that created an amazing pericopic view of the subjects. The mirror is firmly installed in the housing and is super easy to clean.
We wanted the view-portal to be able to be position on the right or left side of the camera and achieved that by creating a removable attachment plate that could be quickly moved to the opposite side of the housing by removing and replacing two knows.
The teleprompter can be free-standing on a tripod or light-stand or be mounted on 15mm rails using the rail attachment provided with the P2P PROMPTER™.
Due to the design of this type of teleprompter, they are a bit lopsided and tend to create torque on the overhanging side. To minimize this we removed as much material from the housing as possible to reduce the overhanging weight but to maintain the structural integrity of the teleprompter housing.
Once we had the designed locked-in we decided, what the heck, let's add a slot that allows the user to place their tablet in front of the mirror so they can use it as a regular tablet teleprompter when they are not using it as a periscope teleprompter. So now, the P2P PROMPER™ works as both a Periscope and a tablet teleprompter and is one of the largest, and most affordable QUALITY periscope teleprompters on the market.
